Hindustan Institute of Management & Computer Studies Farah Mathura has organized a two days conference on 2nd and 3rd on a very relevant topic i.e. Management & life Lessons from Sports Field. This topic was inspired by the Project Jail Bandhu managed by students of HIMCS. Jail is also a lab from where management Skills like engagement, organizing, team building, leadership, channelizing energy of Human resources and many more can be easily learnt.  Hence team HIMCS under leadership of Dr Naveen Gupta, main source of inspiration organized this conference. The experts invited for day 1 of the conference were Prof. S.L. VAYA, SCHOOL OF CRIMINOLOGY & BEHAVIOURAL SCIENCES AT RASHTRIYA RAKSHA UNIVERSITY,  Prof SUDHIR SHARAN, DR SHARAN CONSULTING CALIFORNIA, CO FOUNDER OWGI FOUNDATION PUNE, Dr. MANOJ KUMAR , DIRECTOR ADRDE, PROF. AJAY  K JAIN PROFESSOR  ,MDI ,GURGAON, Prof. SALMA AHMED, DEAN ,  ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY , DR. SURABHI PANDEY, IIPA, NEW DELHI, MR KK SHARMA ,FORMER CRICKETER , MR DEV RANA , CO-FOUNDER HUMANS OF FOOTBALL , MDI. The day 2 of the conference has been planned at central jail Agra , where a cricket match amongst Jail inmates will be organized  ( Jail Premier League  ) followed by Panel Discussion.

Dr Naveen Gupta, director HIMCS welcomed the guest and said that the Best lessons from life can be learnt through sports. There is always a chance to win or lose. Movie Chi chore is the best example to explain there is always a next time. Another example of sports learning lessons is the movie Lagaan, Chak De India, Mary Com etc. True happiness hormones like dopamine are secreted through sports only. He highlighted that research should be more practical oriented. He said research and actions are required today to bring change in society, sports help in true evolution of personality. He also said management fundamentals should be used in taking extraordinary work from ordinary people. Best fundamentals of management can be seen in sports field like conflict management, team work, and cooperation.

Mr. V K Sharma said sports are life supporting activity. he related sports with management in organisation. He gave few points which every individual should follow certain rules

1.      Practice regularly. Put in lot of hard work and enjoy and see that we are fully engaged.

2.      Overcome your weakness, develop your skills and prepare yourself for competition.

3.      Be ready  for healthy competition, its matter of attitude.

4.      Keep practicing and eventually we will achieve your goal.

Sports teaches good team work, overcoming your jealousy, overcoming ego issues.

 He gave a mantra Achieve your personal goals through organizational goals

DR. PAVITRA: said life is a game. Perform your activity with full dedication and win a game. Every role you play in life you have to face a different playground and you have to apply different techniques. We learn through our experience but we should always follow values and ethics. Life is a game you do it and you gain it. He gave example of Satyagrah movement and how Gandhiji was inspired himself and others for this movement. You will only succeed if you strongly believe in the truth. The movement was successful because he respected others. Three fundamentals he focused on was Truth. Ahimsa and Tapasya.

He said to mobilize people without harming. If you develop coherently and believe each other you will succeed.

Prof SUDHIR SHARAN : Sports & help to Conceptual abstract principles of management. Dr. MANOJ KUMAR: Management is a life lessons sports ground is a real learning lesson. He said we should not ignore smallest achievement of life. When we play enemily get reduced eg. IPL . In 100m race championship is decided in the last 100 meters.

PROF. AJAY K JAIN PROFESSOR: Team sports teaches OB fully. Spoils teaches you to manage you failures. He said learn from Virat, Dhoni, and Amitabh Bachchan.

MR KK SHARMA said if you have courage is very important is to be successful in life. He shared his experience hurdles are like teaching lessons to improve and win. Sports helps you develop each day and improves your commitment as well. He said a good attitude is more important than aptitude. mentioned Resilience and Perseverance. Athletes face setbacks, defeats, and injuries but rise above them with unwavering resilience. Likewise, in life and business, resilience in the face of adversity is crucial. Learning to bounce back stronger after failures is a vital lesson imparted by the sports field. He shared his personal experience when he represented the Indian-A cricket team under the captaincy of Ravi Shastri Ji and played one match against Pakistan. He said that cricket taught me the spirit of sportsmanship, fair play, and integrity is a cornerstone of competition. In business, upholding ethical standards and displaying integrity is paramount for sustainable success.

Mr. Sudhir Sharan (Founder-Sharan Consulting California) talked about Discipline and Time Management. He said sports demand rigorous discipline and impeccable time management. Athletes follow strict routines, honing their skills consistently. The importance of discipline and time management extends to professional life, ensuring efficiency and productivity.

Dr. Manoj Kumar (Director-ADRDE) talked about Adaptability and Flexibility. He said that sports often require swift adaptation to changing game scenarios. Athletes display flexibility in their approach, a quality immensely valuable in managing unforeseen challenges encountered in various domains.

Prof. A K Jain (Dean Accreditation- MDI Gurugram) mentioned about goal setting and focus. Athletes set clear, achievable goals and maintain unwavering focus to achieve them. This principle of goal setting and focus is equally applicable in managerial roles, guiding teams toward accomplishing objectives. He said that the amalgamation of these lessons learned on the sports field translates seamlessly into the world of management and everyday life. Embracing these principles not only enhances organizational effectiveness but also fosters personal growth and development.

Mr. Dev Rana (Co-founder, Humans of Football) said that acknowledging and imbibing these valuable insights from the sports arena can significantly contribute to cultivating well-rounded individuals and successful, resilient organizations. He said that sporting conferences facilitate networking opportunities, allowing individuals and organizations to connect, collaborate, and forge partnerships. Ronaldo footballer, everything life is learnt through the ball of the field. Games are more practical in life, learning and lessons. It helps in maintaining orientation and reaching an specific goal. It helps in adapting to change. Every minute life changes and game change. It helps in dealing with adversity. It helps us to come out of our comfortable zone. It teaches sports teaches us to response rather than react. Thus the players are well adjusted in life.

Almost 500+ students and faculty members participated. The session was quite interactive and appreciative.
