Industrial Visit to Punjab Energy Development Agency

The third year students of the Department of Electronics and Communication of Hindustan College of Science and Technology, organized Industrial Training at Punjab Energy Development Agency (Peda). Punjab Energy Development Agency was formed in 1991 as a state nodal agency for the promotion and development of renewable energy program projects and energy conservation program in the state of Punjab. The Pedra is registered as a Society under the Societies Act of 1860. Punjab Energy Development Agency (Peda), students learned about net metering. Under the Net Metering Policy, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems installed above the roof of the building generate their own electricity. The output of the panels (DC power) is connected to the power conditioning unit / inverter which converts DC power to AC power. The inverter output is connected to the building's control panel / distribution board for power use. The inverter synchronizes the load with the grid prioritizing solar energy consumption. Net metering system arrangement of a single service line for additional power injection in grid uses that are already being used by consumers to draw power from the network. The students learned that rooftop solar power projects ranging from 1 KW to 10 MW can be installed under the net metering policy. 14 students of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering were informed about net metering. Along with the students, Mr. Himanshu Prakash Rajput, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of the Institute was with there . The director of the institute, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Upadhyay said that with this five-day industrial expedition, the students got an opportunity to learn from the subject experts of Punjab Energy Development Agency. Due to this, the students of the department got the benefit of learning industrial work.
